Playing drums for EIRA

During the school's summer project week, children of the "Von-Ketteler-Schule" in Oelde were able to collect almost 500 € from teachers and parents for further support of EIRA. The drummer Johnny Lamprecht donated 2 € of any sold CD. EIRA still needs considerable support for restoration and installation of the missing roof structure on 2 of 4 buildings. With projects like these EIRA will be capable to accomodate more and more children in the area of Paynesville and provide them better education possibilities. A big hug and "THANK YOU" to all children, parents and teachers at the "Von-Ketteler-Schule" in Oelde!!!

New roof for 1100 $

"It is a joyous day for me to reach another level of the roofing of the school building." says Pastor Blojah after finishing another roof on one of 4 potential school buildings which were destroyed and abandoned during the civil war.

The group-picture below shows the formal closing and graduation of kindergarten and elementary. EIRA is formally closed until August, 2011. During this time Pastor Blojah and the community will try to restore more of the school buildings and their interior for the opening of school in August, 2011. Therefore we are continiously asking for donations to be able to work continiously on the restoration of the buildings. The members of the church - studens, parents, guardians, teachers, and community members are all very happy about the new roofing on the school building.

With the support of donators from abroad, but also from donators inside the community Monrovia and the Embassy of Christ, the school buildings can now accomodate many more children. Now the main focus of restorations is on windows and doors, paint, desks and further furniture for the classrooms. Beside these challenges we are also working on a continious payment model for the teachers. Students and teachers are both suffering, because teachers cannot be present at the school for sufficient hours due to low salaries and much needed compensations with other jobs to support their families.

EIRA self funded roof structure

To extend the school's capacity and protect more parts of the old school building from the heavy rains during rainy season the church community and student's parents startet a fund raising within the community in Monrovia and successfully raised 257 $ (US) to build the roofing substructure. First the money was planned to be used for building further school desks but Pastor Blojah decided to use the money on the much needed roofing to create more covered space to be able to accomodate more students in the future. With support from various donators from abroad the roofing can be properly finished with zinc sheets.

You can always help and support EIRA even with small donations. We are always willing to provide you with status reports of current projects and developments. If you have any questions about the project or bank account details please do not hesitate to contact us via help.eira@gmail.com.

one more building of the original buildings (destroyed in war) will soon be roofed.
